Costa Rica is known as a country of traditional democracy, a country of important development particularly in education and health. These facts produce standards of well-being similar to “developed” nations. These levels of well-being, along with tourism and human resources substructures, have allowed medical and surgical aesthetic treatment to become a common and very successful activity for many individuals from all over the world.
The aesthetic procedure fees are very attractive for local and foreign patients. This is because the fee schedule is meant to be fair enough to benefit the patients. This situation is very different from other countries in which the costs depend on excessive expenses of paramedical and hospital services, as well as an enormous ambition to profit from the demand. We have to make it clear that in our country we don't sacrifice quality over price. This phenomenon occurs because there is a great quantity of surgeries taking place, hospital costs are decent, and everybody benefits from the system.
The medical team preparation is supported by formal training in post-graduate studies by universities in Costa Rica and in the USA. The purpose is to reinforce knowledge in specific areas and enlarge current medical concepts with advanced techniques and technologies. The Hospital Clinica Biblica began operating more than seventy years ago and it offers essential services and modern equipment, which guarantees maximum safety during treatment. During the convalescence out of the hospital, the patient is accommodated in qualified recovery centers that offer the comfort and care needed to make this a pleasant period.
Usually, the patient remains between 7 and 14 days in Costa Rica, and is almost always able to do some sightseeing without risking the recovery period. Frequently, the patient's journey combines an interest in aesthetic procedures with tourism objectives. The first days are spent in sightseeing, or the convalescence period can be used to get to know the country. However, most patients prefer to have their pre-operatory consultation the afternoon of the day of arrival, and their procedure done the next morning.
Pre-surgery blood and cardio tests to evaluate the health condition of the patient are mandatory; there are no exceptions. These exams can take place in our country and they take less than two hours. They guarantee the safety and quality of the results. However, if the patient has had these exams in the last three months in Costa Rica or in their own country, they may bring them as valid tests.
